[...] And not just any wheels, but poncy, design-tastic wheels. What? You want more nauseating buzzwords? It’s also eco-green-wooden-sustainable, FSC and Flash-tastic (and yet, somehow still made in China). Oh, and low VOC. I think. Everyone knows sustainably grown wooden bikes are the future of bike snobbery. [...]

Hi Lucy! Thanks for checking in with us at Panda Bikes. At the moment, the forks that we use will not facilitate front panniers. Having said that we are willing to work with you to find the fork that will work. And that goes the gearing ratio.

Nice bikes. Can the Natural be equipped to do self-contained touring. Does it have eyelets to accommodate front rack and panniers? How about the gearing ratio~is it low enough to climb steep hills?

Saw the bike at Coops. Was running interference for my wife between the line-ups on the way out the door ... and then caught a glimpse of that beauty hanging on the wall. 2010 -- the year of the bamboo bike. Don't let us down.

Thanks.

We use an epoxy to bond the steel and the bamboo together as part of a proprietary joint design. We expect our bikes to be heirloom bikes if properly cared for like any other bike that you are interested in keeping around for generations.

Hey,

So I love the look of your bikes, and like the ideas behind it, coaster brakes, and internal geared hub, all sounds awesome.

But I am curious about your lug to bamboo connection. I have seen lots of DIY builds, and the other professional builds, and they all work from epoxy and then some type of binder material, hemp, carbon fiber, fiberglass.

How are you keeping them together, assuming your not welding them. :D

Oh and I didn't see any mention of how long they have lasted, or you expect them to last.

Thanks, again looks like a beautiful bike at a great price.

Mr. Schmoe...

Craig Calfee has undoubtedly been a trailblazer in the bike building industry. He makes great bicycles and I am flattered that you would even compare us with such a legend. What it comes down to is that we have designed a different bike. Our steel-lugged frame allows us to provide you with a sleek modern bamboo bike at a fraction of the cost. Thanks for checking us out.
